What's on the Can: "I scream you scream we all scream for fresh hoppy milkshakes!

"Perhaps one of our favorite styles to brew because it's become one of our favorite styles to drink. Milkshake IPA's get their name from a cloudy/hazy appearance, the use of vanilla, and lactose (milk) sugar. Lactose is too complex for brewer's yeast to ferment which leaves a residual sweetness in the beer. The use of vanilla helps to add to the beautiful illusion of a frosty and delicious milkshake. We use a generous addition of oats to increase the mouthfeel, thus creating a fluffy, hazy pedestal to showcase juicy hops & fresh real fruit."

What's on the Website: "Lactose IPA with apricot and Vanilla"

Where distributed: As of July 2018, Hamilton Family Brewery beers are only found in Southern California.

REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured hazy light orange into a plastic cup. Unfiltered. White head. 4.25/5

Smell (25%): Soft apricot with vanilla. As advertised. 4.25/5

Taste (40%): Follows nose. Tropical combination (to me) of peach, mango, and other stone fruit with the apricot. Oaty and malty qualities. Sweetness from the lactose and vanilla works against the slightly tart tropical. Citrusy through the aftertaste. 4.25/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Juicy and creamy. 4.25/5

Overall (20%): An excellent IPA. Hamilton's Apricot Milkshake was a special treat that my friends at Main Event Pong nabbed for me when I came down for Vidcon 2018 (they had gotten the Triple Mango beer for me the previous year). Lovely tropical in this one, and perhaps one day I'll get to the brewery itself for more beer thirty tasting science. 4.25/5

Final Weighted Rating: 4.25/5
