What's on the Can/Bottle: "This label, which depicts Josh Baggett shredding a guitar in outer space as he pedals a pink training-wheeled bicycle while baby unicorns are born in his wake and the monkey on his back juggles guavas and his crown, fairly represents Josh's rigorous path promoting craft beer to TX. Josh, we love you man! Brewed with fresh guava puree, with Mosaic hops."
Where distributed: As of October 2017, Clown Shoes distributes to many states, mostly in the Midwest and East Coast. They actually distribute to Oregon, despite not having it listed in blue (as of October). See if Clown Shoes Beer ships to your area!
REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Pours slightly hazy golden into a pint
glass. Frothy white head, considerable lacing on the glass. 4.5/5Smell (25%): Definitely a tropical guava aroma. 4.25/5
Taste (40%): Guava from start to finish. Very pleasing, comes as advertised. It's also easy drinking for 8%, an added bonus. 4.5/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Leaves a dry tongue. 4.25/5
Overall (20%): An excellent Double IPA. I routinely find some Clown Shoes beers in Portland, and I think they make very solid beers from the ones that I've had. Being from Hawaii, the guava reminds me of home (and yes, you can get Clown Shoes beers in Hawaii). The easy drinkability scores extra points with me. Belmont Station is traditionally on the pricier side in the Portland area, but I'm OK with the price. I'm a fan of this brewery. 4.25/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.363/5
