What's on the Can: "Follow your nose to the most righteous party of the year! Orange and Guava dominate alongside a generous helping of that unmistakable dank stank. A soft-shelled hop assault drops a blender's worth of tropical fruit and helps the beer glide across the tongue like a pizza-inspired conga line. Feel free to ask Gary in the back office what we meant by that.'"

Where distributed: Hoof Hearted Brewing has very limited distribution and may even be hard to find within Ohio. I was shocked they even came to Portland this past April.

REVIEW:

Appearance (5%): Pours hazy light orange into an IPA glass. Unfiltered; sediment at the bottom of the can. White head, some lacing. 4.5/5

Smell (25%): Inviting tropical orange and slight guava experience. Glad that the guava is not overwhelming, as compared to any previous reviews on beers featuring guava. 4.5/5

Taste (40%): Smooth from the first sip. Soft tropical, with guava a bit more assertive on taste than aroma. Complementing slight dank. 4.25/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Juicy with trace dry tongue. 4.25/5

Overall (20%): An excellent IPA. Between Musk of the Minotaur and South of Eleven, I think the former feels more like a New England-style IPA, so I'm labeling it as such. I still prefer South of Eleven just slightly, though. Again, my wallet took quite a hit, but it was for science. 4.5/5

Final Weighted Rating: 4.375/5

This blog is simply a place for me to review various craft beers that I can get my hands on. I will generally try to buy the bottle (or can) if possible. Obviously, this is all subjective.

Right now, I am most likely to drink IPAs or Double IPAs, but that can change. If there are any "must-buy" beers out there, I hope to find and review it.

Before people start asking, no, I likely will not be brewing my own beer -- although I have considered it before. Lack of patience. :-/
