Commercial Description: "Similar in most respects to Konkey Dong, this DIPA primarily consists of South African hop varieties. Southern Passion: a diploid seedling originating from Saaz and Hallertauer crossing. Fruity, notes of passion fruit, and slightly spicy. African Queen: This unique hop’s profile is a balance between a fruity taste and traditional bitterness, with a tropical and citrus aroma."
Where distributed: Hoof Hearted Brewing has very limited distribution and may even be hard to find within Ohio. I was shocked they even came to Portland this past April.
REVIEW:
Appearance (5%):
Pours hazy light orange into a champagne-like (but 10.5 oz) glass. White head, some lacing. 4.5/5Smell (25%): Tropical-forward (passion fruit), slight oaty akin to a New England-style. 4.5/5
Taste (40%): Follows the nose; tropical all the way. Bitterness kept in check. Very smooth and soft drinking experience, with octane mostly in check despite the 8.5% tag. 4.25/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Very juicy. 4.5/5
Overall (20%): An excellent to outstanding IPA. Like Musk of the Minotaur, I think I'll Have What She's Having has the aura of a New England-style IPA. It also brings in a similar score to MotM, but the drinkability and superior juiciness here give it the slight nod. 4.5/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.4/5
