REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured clear golden into a snifter glass. Some white head. 4.25/5Smell (25%): Tropical grapefruit and piney. 4.5/5
Taste (40%): Follows the nose. Intense tropical with controlled bitterness. Mosaic and Simcoe shine here. Explosive flavors all the way. A delicious West Coast-style IPA. 4.5/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied; some carbonation. Simply satisfying. 4.25/5
Overall (20%): An excellent IPA. During a Beachwood event at Belmont Station, I sampled a few different offerings and the clear IPA winner was Cryo Me a River for its huge tropical experience, controlled bitterness, and overall easy drinking IPA. At about 7.1%, it is in my typical "sweet spot" for IPAs. Beachwood Brewing supports other small businesses and is against the macro beer "takeover." I'm a fan, and I'm happy they have arrived in Portland. 4.5/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.463/5
