REVIEW:
Appearance (5%):
Poured a murky brownish-orange into a pint glass. Some off-white head. Not the color I expected at all. 3.5/5Smell (25%): Tropical pine and citrus, with rye and bready notes. Complementing malt. 4.5/5
Taste (40%): Tropical citrus and grapefruit at the start. Getting the rye/bready throughout. Middle of the experience has more malty notes, with slight octane. Citrus towards the aftertaste. Not too bitter, full of flavor. Really enjoying this. 4.5/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Leaves a dry tongue. Not too bitter, actually pleasing and very drinkable. 4.25/5
Overall (20%): An excellent IPA. Although the color on this beer isn't the greatest (at least in my opinion), Skookum more than makes up for it with Mammoth Jack's wonderful aroma, flavor, and drinkability. Apparently, that's how the beer normally looks (see photos on Untappd). This is a textbook example on how appearance isn't everything; the proverbial warning on not judging a book by its cover. Price is reasonable. Definitely a thumbs up from me. 4.25/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.375/5
