What's on the Can/Website: "Similar to the fan-favorite San Diego Pale Ale .394, this beer pays tribute to Hall-of-Famer Tony Gwynn and the career-high batting average that he achieved with the Padres in '94. Hazy .394 showcases an intense hop aroma of tropical fruit and citrus, but delivers a fuller-bodied pour than its predecessor, along with a smooth and creamy finish. It's a guaranteed hit!" REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured hazy peach-colored into a pint glass. Unfiltered, lots of sediment suspended in the beer. White head, some lacing. 4.25/5Smell (25%): Tropical grapefruit, pineapple, and other citrus. Slight caramelized sweet malt notes that balance everything well. 4.75/5
Taste (40%): Tropical-forward, mainly grapefruit and pineapple. More citrus into the aftertaste. Malts ideally complement. 4.75/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Very juicy with trace dry tongue. 4.5/5
Overall (20%): An outstanding to world-class IPA. Not sure why it took me this long to try another IPA from AleSmith, but this is yet another one I will want a six-pack of. The malt backbone and smooth finish lift the tropical that much more. Big fan. 4.75/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.7/5
