What's on the Bottle: "Assertive and drinkable. Double IPA is California's gift to beer lovers. Ours is brewed with four distinctly American hops: Centennial, Citra, Columbus and Simcoe. All beautifully balanced by five malts and generous additions of local orange blossom honey. An intense sensory experience - the fresh aroma of citrus, pine and grapefruit with the bold taste of hops and sweet honey"

Where distributed: As of July 2016, Hangar 24 distributes their beer mainly in Central and Southern California, but I have seen certain beers (i.e. Betty) pop up in Southwest Washington. See if Hangar 24 ships to your area!

REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured slight cloudy light golden into a pint glass. Unfiltered, lots of sediment suspended in the beer. Frothy white head. Good lacing on the glass. 4.5/5

Smell (25%): Sweet tropical malt, with honey, orange, grapefruit, pine, and floral. Quite balanced. 4/5

Taste (40%): Hop-forward. Malt, noticeable octane, and dank from the middle of the drinking experience. Followed by tropical citrus (orange and grapefruit), floral, and pine on the end. Good bitterness and lots of flavor. Solid. 4.25/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Bitterness will linger on the tongue. 4/5

Overall (20%): An awesome IPA. On this one, I preferred this without food (I had tacos), as the octane increased for me when pairing it with something. When enjoying this by itself, I could appreciate more of the dankness and grapefruit bitterness this beer brought. I'd have no problem drinking the entire bottle in one sitting. Again, it's now known as Iconic Double IPA, but you may still see these Double IPA bottles on shelves in California. A very good buy for Double IPA lovers. 4.25/5

Final Weighted Rating: 4.175/5
