REVIEW:
Appearance (5%):
Initially poured a hazy light golden-orange into a pint glass. Unfiltered beer, with sediment at the bottom of the can. Final pour is more a cloudy peach color. Frothy white head. Some lacing at the top of the glass. Looks like a typical New England-style IPA. 4.25/5Smell (25%): Tropical, mainly stone fruit flavors (includes mango and papaya). Also resiny and dank on the nose. 4.25/5
Taste (40%): The initial flavors had muted tropical with a virtual wall of subdued malt, and almost no aftertaste. I then completely poured the beer into the glass and let it sit for a bit. Completely different experience. Tropical resiny at the start, with more of a dank citrus towards the aftertaste. I went from being indifferent about the flavor to a pretty happy panda in five minutes. Bitterness held in check, but it's there. Only real downside: the octane really hits the tongue if you have food with this beer 4.25/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium body, good carbonation. Fairly juicy on the tongue. 4.5/5
Overall (20%): An excellent IPA. Evil Twin Brewing apparently had previously released this beer around August 2017 to positive reviews. It came back at a lower ABV and presumably lower IBUs at the time of this review. It looks like a New England-style beer, but I'm on the fence whether it fits the particular style. At the end of the day, I thought it was a very good beer, but I'd probably drink this on its own instead of pairing it with food. For me, an ideal ABV and a fairly reasonable price. 4.25/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.275/5
