REVIEW:
Appearance (5%):
Starts pouring hazy golden into a pint glass. Sediment at the bottom ultimately makes this hazy/cloudy peach-colored. Frothy white head; trace lacing. 4.25/5Smell (25%): Abundant pineapple with sweet stone fruit and berry. Slight creamy aroma as well, akin to a smoothie. 4.75/5
Taste (40%): Mix of tropical and malt at the start. Malt and slight octane peak around the middle of the drinking experience. Getting a second wave of pineapple and other tropical notes on the aftertaste. Drinks very well for 9.3% ABV. 4.5/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium to medium-full bodied, good carbonation. Some creamy mouthfeel with the bitterness held in check. 4.25/5
Overall (20%): An excellent to outstanding IPA. I took a glance at Decadent Ales' website, and they appear to have a nice beer lineup. To me, Double Tropical Smoothie lived up to its name; a wonderful job on the tropical and smoothie experience. However, the price made me do a double-take. That was one expensive single can. 4.25/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.475/5
