REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured hazy orange into a tulip glass. White head, some lacing. 4.5/5

Smell (25%): Grapefruit and pine with some sweet malt and resin. 4/5

Taste (40%): Resiny and some pine at the start, with assertive grapefruit. More about the pine and grapefruit here. Solid malt backbone. Doesn't speak New England-style on taste; it's more a hazy West Coast IPA. Assertive bitterness even though it says 50 IBU on the can. 4/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with some dry tongue. 4.25/5

Overall (20%): A solid IPA. While I've generally been a big fan of 3 Magnets Brewing beers, I can't help but feel this is where hazy IPAs have jumped the shark, so to speak. This has the appearance in every way of a New England-style (tropical) IPA, but instead, this beer packs the bitterness of a West Coast IPA - or at least more bitterness than one might anticipate. It's a decent beer, but people expecting the softer tropical New England style may get blindsided with all the bitterness. 4/5

Final Weighted Rating: 4.05/5
