What's on the Can/Website: "This is a tasty time-traveling tribute to an all time iconic beer style - the India Pale Ale. Though the style goes 200 years back this time around we re-created a 1985 style IPA - perhaps you remember the hip hop times. Enjoy a full on hoppy beer infused with everything you loved about the 80's. The future is now." Read more here!

REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured a clear golden-orange into a pint glass. Off-white head. 4.25/5

Smell (25%): Hoppy, piney, and virtually no fruity aromas. You can sense right away that it will be more bitter than your modern IPA. 3/5

Taste (40%): Light malt, hoppy, semi-bitter hit, then abruptly finishes with almost no aftertaste. Not a fan. If this is an IPA from 1985, I'm glad I wasn't allowed to drink back then. 2.5/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-light bodied, some carbonation. Again, doesn't stand out to me much in any manner.. 3/5

Overall (20%): An average IPA -- at best. I really got into IPAs for their tropical, refreshing nature. The more fruity and tropical, the better. Basically, the retro IPA is almost everything I don't generally care for when it comes to beer. I cannot vouch for the accuracy (is it an IPA I really would have gotten back in 1985?), but if that was dead on, I'd give it a couple of bonus points. This did give me a shot to compare it to another Evil Twin IPA coming tomorrow. 2.75/5

Final Weighted Rating: 2.813/5
