REVIEW:
Appearance (5%):
Pours hazy light yellow-golden into a pint glass. Resembles a cross between pineapple juice and passion fruit juice. Not much in the way of suds or head on my bottle. 4.25/5Smell (25%): Very citrusy. Intense passion fruit experience from the Citra and Simcoe hops. Invigorating and refreshing. 4.75/5
Taste (40%): Amazing passion fruit experience from start to finish. Very smooth, clean flavor. Controlled hop-bitterness to remind you that this is an IPA. Bonus points for drinking far easier than the stated 8%. It took a while (over 3/4 of the pint glass consumed) to detect any alcohol notes. 4.75/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-light body. Velvety and carbonated on the tongue. Some bitterness lingers, but in a good way. 4.5/5
Overall (20%): An outstanding Imperial IPA. I first had this at the brewpub in July 2015 and praised its refreshing feel and citrusy flavors. This took me right back to when I sat in that brewpub with my Albuquerque Dog. Make no mistake, this is for people who like tropical-fruity, hoppy beers -- and I am one of those persons. Ex Novo has a true gem with Dynamic Duo. 4.75/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.7/5
