What's on the Can/Website: "There's nothing quite like hangin' in Hawai'i. Dig the island vibe while crushing a cold one. *Owyhee is an older English spelling of Hawai'i used in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It is found in the names of certain locations in the American part of the Pacific Northwest, which were explored and mapped by expeditions whose members included native Hawaiians. It's also a new beer in collaboration with our friends at Koholā Brewery in Lahaina, Maui. Citra, Mosaic and a dash of Simcoe add fruity hop flavors perfect fit for a beer on the beach. Or just daydreaming about it."

Where distributed: Revision Brewing distributes to nine states. This one is probably also found in Hawaii, due to the collaboration. See if they distribute to your area!

REVIEW:

Appearance (5%): Poured hazy light orange into a pint glass. Unfiltered; sediment at the bottom of the can. White head, trace lacing at the top of the glass. 4.25/5

Smell (25%): Lots of tropical citrus, with complementing oaty malts. 4.5/5

Taste (40%): Full-blown tropical citrus from start to finish. Slight malt complement initially, which quickly gives way to all things citrus. Very refreshing. 4.75/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, good carbonation. Very juicy with some dry tongue. 4.25/5

Overall (20%): An outstanding IPA. Huge fan of the assertive tropical presence. This should take you to the islands and back. A perfect fit for drinking in a warm, tropical climate (or anywhere you choose). 4.5/5

This blog is simply a place for me to review various craft beers that I can get my hands on. I will generally try to buy the bottle (or can) if possible. Obviously, this is all subjective.

Right now, I am most likely to drink IPAs or Double IPAs, but that can change. If there are any "must-buy" beers out there, I hope to find and review it.

Before people start asking, no, I likely will not be brewing my own beer -- although I have considered it before. Lack of patience. :-/
