What's on the Bottle/Website: " 'Some people paint, some sing, other write...I brew.' - Daniel Carey"
"A few times a year we cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.
"Teased from the loam by the kiss of the Sun. Mom’s Strawberry Rhubarb delights are the happy memories of childhood. Diploma Master Brewer Dan employed juicy sweet Strawberries to tame the barbaric wild tart fermentation of rhubarb. Escaped from the far corners of neighboring yards, local rhubarb was incorporated into the wild sour fermentation to create this drinkable dream. Bright sour and effervescent. Toast chilled cold to bright skies, fireflies, bare feet and rhubarb pies!" Read more here!
Food Pairings: New Glarus suggests several options, from pan-fried whitefish to Marscapone cheese to French Vanilla ice cream.
Where distributed: New Glarus Brewing distributes just within parts of Wisconsin. Very hard to get unless you go to the brewery.
REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Pours hazy strawberry red into a pint glass. Off-white head with pinkish hue. 4.5/5Smell (25%): Assertive sweet strawberry with complementing tart notes. 4.75/5
Taste (40%): Explosive strawberry with controlled, complementing tartness towards the middle. Strawberry resumes its lead role through the aftertaste. Like drinking carbonated strawberry jam. Extremely refreshing. 5/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, good carbonation. Sticky with some dry tongue. 4.25/5
Overall (20%): An outstanding to world-class Wild Fruit Ale. If Raspberry Tart was my favorite beer, Strawberry Rhubarb is a close second. I continue to see why New Glarus is so coveted and this one too got a lot of rave reviews. Perfect beer for spring and summer, and I wish it was available year-round. 4.75/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.788/5
