More About This Beer: Final Cut was the second New England-style IPA brewed by Culmination Brewing, the first being Obscured by Clouds in February 2017 and the second being Momentary Lapse of Reason in March 2017. Final Cut is a lower ABV (7.4% compared to 8.4% for the previous two NE Style IPAs). I do not know the IBU for Final Cut.
Where distributed: Culmination Brewing can be found in the Pacific Northwest. It slowly but surely has expanded throughout the Portland area.
REVIEW:
Appearance (5%):
Poured hazy orange-peach colored into a tulip glass. Some white head, if any. 4.25/5Smell (25%): Dank aroma, yet retains juicy, tropical peach and citrus qualities. 4.25/5
Taste (40%): Follows the nose on tropical. Some dank notes, certainly more so than the prior two Culmination NE Style IPAs. As the beer slightly warms up, it becomes more tropical and seemingly more easy drinking. 4/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, good carbonation. Virtually no dry tongue for me. Pleasing and juicy. 4.5/5
Overall (20%): An awesome IPA. I remember not so subtly requesting more of this IPA style last year, and Culmination continues to make me a very happy panda with its third New England-style IPA. I had a bit of a time trying to figure out if I liked this one more than Momentary Lapse of Reason and Obscured By Clouds. Although never formally rated here, I'd probably put Obscured By Clouds first (approximately 4.4-ish range on rating, upon retrospect), followed by Momentary Lapse of Reason, then Final Cut. For my palate, the other two were a bit more drinkable and at a higher ABV. 4/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.125/5
