What's on the Bottle: "In the Winter of 2015 our little island was struck by a furious windstorm, which knocked out our chiller while a tank of IPA was freshly fermenting. We couldn't release it as the original beer, but it tasted great. So we hit the beer with Pink Grapefruit and figured we'd save the batch by releasing it as a special one-off in our taproom. But some escaped. Then a lot of people started asking for it. Now it's our best selling beer. Life's weird like that."
Hops: Azacca, Cascade, Crystal, Centennial.
Where distributed: Bainbridge Brewing currently distributes to Washington.
REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured clear copper into a pint glass. White head, trace lacing. 4.25/5Smell (25%): Mix of berry and hoppy grapefruit. 4.5/5
Taste (40%): Refreshing blend of citrus grapefruit and berry with floral hops. More of a citrus peel and grapefruit aftertaste. 4/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Some dry tongue. 4.25/5
Overall (20%): An awesome to excellent IPA. I initially bought this one because I love grapefruit IPAs. To me, the aroma is better than the flavor. Maybe a bit more hop floral than I usually prefer these days. Regardless, I too would be asking for this one if I visited Bainbridge's taproom. 4/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.163/5
