What's on the Website: "We're going a bit blurry on this nebulous release... Hazy Memory is a cloudy IPA full of oats and smooth wheatly-esque-ish-ness, packed with some of the murkiest, juiciest, turbid Loral 291, Hallertau Blanc, Galaxy, and Citra hops. It's a huge flavor you won't forget!"
What's on the Can: "It's right on the tip of your tongue. So close you can taste it. Just back and to the left ... slightly obscured by less important, but somehow more cherished, info like one-hit wonders and World Series winners. Idling for just the right moment for recollection. Usually a week later, just past 4 in the morning. As clear as a foghorn in the Bay. Right in your ear. Uh, what was it again? Hazy Memory is evocative of everything we've learned in hop-forward brewing, expressed in a glowing unfiltered voice. Beer speaks, people mumble."
Hops: Loral 291, Hallertau Blanc, Galaxy, Citra.
Where distributed: Lagunitas Brewing distributes throughout most of the United States.
Smell (25%): Tropical blend of grape, grapefruit, peach, and papaya with complementing malty notes. 4/5
Taste (40%): Balanced hoppy, malty, and tropical throughout. More hoppiness and a trace of octane on the second wave, but nothing overwhelming. Stone fruit presence on the aftertaste. Good flavor and very drinkable. 4/5
Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-full bodied, good carbonation. Some juiciness with dry tongue. 4.25/5
Overall (20%): An awesome IPA. Since it's been a while since I formally reviewed a Lagunitas beer, this was a nice reintroduction. Overall, a largely straightforward IPA that is wonderfully executed. It might not stand out nearly as much as other beers I've had, but Hazy Memory is a solid option if you see it on the taplist. 4/5
Final Weighted Rating: 4.038/5
