Commercial Description: "Heading into 2018 the beer community is expecting a, kind of, come down from the haze craze that was last year with less focus on making beer that looks like OJ and milk mixed together and more emphasis on flavor, aroma, and mouth feel. To that, we give you "Hazy Expectations", as predicting the next big beer trend is about as easy as projecting how many hops a brewery will go through in a year! Look for a crap ton of Amarillo, Centennial and Simcoe along with our favorite Juice yeast and a minimal malt bill of pilsner, flaked rice and flaked wheat. The beer has a huge, sweet crushed citrus nose and flavor with a touch of pepper, a crisp body and mild haze."

Where distributed: Matchless Brewing distributes to at least to the Pacific NW. Find out if Matchless ships to your area!

REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured slightly hazy golden-orange into a pint glass. Frothy white head, great lacing at the top of the glass. 4.5/5

Smell (25%): Mostly tropical pineapple and grapefruit. 4.25/5

Taste (40%): Follows the nose; extra wave of citrus about halfway in. Slight citrus remains on the aftertaste. Easy drinking overall. 4.25/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium-bodied, some carbonation. Very juicy with slight dry tongue. 4.5/5

Overall (20%): An excellent IPA. This Matchless beer seems more a hybrid of the West Coast and NE styles; it's not too bitter forward like the West and not as sweet-tropical forward like the NE-Style (although, as noted above, there is a lot of citrus). The result: a pleasant experience. 4.25/5

Final Weighted Rating: 4.288/5
