What's on the Can/Website: "Our first beer out of our new brewery is an homage to its former life as a toaster pastry factory. Biscuit malts give the beer a slightly nutty, crust-like flavor, while pale and dark Crystal malts create the mouthfeel and flavors reminiscent of strawberry jam. Calypso and other experimental hops give this ruby ale a welcome bite, plus a few more in the hop back for a toasty-sweet aroma." Read more here!

REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Poured a clear amber color with reddish hues into a pint glass. Several millimeters of tan head that leaves a sudsy surface. 4.25/5

Smell (25%): Wonderful tropical and piney aroma. Slight dank notes. 4.5/5

Taste (40%): Tropical, fruity, and slightly malty qualities. Generally balanced but complex, with emphasis on the more tropical West Coast IPA style. More of the alcohol is detected after several sips. Delicious. 4.25/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium, malty body. Velvety on the tongue. Some carbonation. 4/5

Overall (20%): A great Red IPA. Loved the tropical aromas and flavors, and the alcohol is fairly well-masked here. I have not seen many 19.2 oz tallboys, and I like the fairly simplistic design of the can. Real cool that the brewery paid homage to the brewery space itself. A successful beer here. 4.25/5

Final Weighted Rating: 4.288/5
