What's on the Bottle: "We use a full pound of Citra hops in each barrel exclusively in this IPA. Citra hops are totally unique and possess strong citrus and tropical tones of grapefruit, melon, lime, gooseberry, passion fruit and lychee. This one is designed to delight!"

What's on the Website: "We managed to scam a bunch of Citra hops from another brewer. heh heh heh! These hops are coveted, in short supply and elusive, just like the Maltese Falcon or the Holy Grail. Click on this link to learn more about this hop than you ever wanted to know: Citra.

"What's all the hoorah about, you ask? Well, this hop has an outstanding aroma and flavor of tropical fruit that's unmistakable. Bring it up to your face and it says 'Welcome to Tahiti' with hints of pineapple, papaya, mango and lychee."

REVIEW:
Appearance (5%): Initially pours clear golden into a pint glass. But when pouring the last of this unfiltered, unpasteurized beer, you'll then get the darker, cloudy look and sediment suspended throughout the glass. Sudsy surface and a few millimeters of frothy white head at the start. Some lacing left on the glass. 4.5/5

Smell (25%): Sweet-malty with hints of passion fruit and other tropical notes. 3.75/5

Taste (40%):A mix of citrus and malty notes. A slight bitterness on the tongue during the aftertaste. 3.75/5

Mouthfeel (10%): Medium body with good carbonation. A bit velvety on the tongue. 4/5

Overall (20%): A good IPA. If I was given a pint of this at a party, or if someone bought me this at the bar, I would not pass it up. While it may be a bit too malty for me to want a lot of it, it's still a respectable option that I may have on occasion. I'm sure you can thank the Citra hops for that one. 3.75/5

Final Weighted Rating: 3.813/5
